If you are 65 to 70 years of age now you are eligible for the publicly funded Shingrix vaccine, provided you have not received the Zostavax® II vaccine through the Ontario publicly funded shingles immunization program. We are catching up on routine cancer screening, so tests-please schedule an in person appointment for your pap and periodic health exam-which is a targeted health assessment.
Time for breast and cervical cancer screening.
These tests had been put on hold under the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Cancer Care Ontario in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Reminder letters are now being sent.
If you believe you are overdue for a Breast screening examination please contact us. The screening letters are sent to women ages 50-74 every 2 years for women at average risk for Breast Cancer. If you are aged 30-69 and are at high risk for getting breast cancer, based on personal or family history, please discuss this concern with your doctor. You may be eligible for the High Risk OBSP (Ontario Breast Screening Program). If you are due or overdue for your cervical screening (Pap) test, we will be reaching out to your soon to schedule these appointments or you may contact us to schedule them. Currently, screening is recommended every 3 years for women who have been sexually active. The current guideline is to start at age 21, but will soon be updated to start at age 25. Screening should continue until age 70 under specific guidelines. Speak to your doctor if you are between 21-25 years of age. Cancer Care Ontario Screening for Cervical Cancer
The Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kits through ColonCancerCheck have resumed. Please contact the office if you are due for this test and we will arrange to have one mailed to you. People aged 50-74 with no family history of colon cancer in a first degree relative should consider doing this test every 2 years. Immunizations
We are currently providing routine immunizations for adults and babies/children. If you are due for an immunization, please contact the office to schedule it.
.Immunizations for grade 7/8 students (meningitis A,C, Y & W135, Hepatitis B and Gardasil = HPV) are available if pre-ordered by our office from Public Health. There is currently no COVID-19 vaccine nor antibody test that is widely available through our office. Please check back for updates.
Bone Density Tests
Bone Density testing has resumed. Please contact the office if you are due for this test.
Please note that routine periodic health visits are done as in person visits. Contact us if you are behind with any type of screening.
